Although most of our members do own boats, if you don't have a boat, it's no problem! Most of our events are on the river during the summer months, but all the venues are easily accessible for anyone by vehicle or motorcycle. Our boating member's are warm and welcoming and you'll find yourself onboard in no time! And we have a busy calendar year around, offering many great events such as the Spring Kickoff Dinner, Sponsor River Rally, Family Picnic, Crock Pot Cook Off, Meat Raffle Fund Raiser and annual holiday party. Not to mention monthly featured sponsor social events! Fleet 17 is also very proud to host the Venetian Night boat parade on the river every August. This event is open to the public, so join in!
The Fleet 17 Boat club was formed in the late 1980s and remains one of the oldest boat clubs in Illinois. The club was originally formed to serve boaters on the Fox River and Chain of Lakes in McHenry and Lake counties and welcomes both boat owners and non boat owners alike to join us for great times along our beautiful waterways.
The Fleet 17 name was created in homage to the approximate 17 miles of the Fox River that flows between the McHenry and the Algonquin dams. We are primarily a recreational boat club but also gives back to the community through charitable events.
Fleet 17 also helps with the Fox Waterway Management Agency sharing the mutual mission of protecting and enhancing our beautiful waterways by identifying potential river issues.
